A prayer about Compromise

When is it right to compromise?

Heavenly Father,

It’s easy to see in children, especially when they are in conflict with one another, the kind of stubbornness that avoids compromise. Both sides want their way, and neither wants to give in. But I’m afraid I can see myself in that scenario too. Forgive me for the times when I’m so inflexible that I refuse to give ground to someone else. For the sake of harmony in my relationships, teach me the art of compromise—looking beyond my desires to the greater good and negotiating so that both sides win. But keep me alert, Lord, to the times when I must not compromise. May I never give in when I’m tempted to sin or to compromise your truth, your ways, or your Word. Guard me from giving up godliness in exchange for anything else. I know that’s never a compromise you want me to make. May I always choose your ways above my own.

Make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Philippians 2:2
