A Prayer About The Past
A prayer about the Past
When I’m haunted by my past
Lord God,
I know that the way I view my past will affect how I live now and in the future. Some aspects of my past are good. Thank you for the spiritual heritage I have received from family and mentors. May I use it to help others and never take it for granted. But some parts of my past are painful, Lord. Difficult things happened that wounded me. I’m also filled with regret for actions of my own that were wrong and hurtful. Thank you that no matter what I’ve done or what has been done to me, you are ready to heal me, cleanse me, and give me a fresh start. I humbly ask you to redeem my past and restore me. I believe you can remove my regret, guilt, and shame. Thank you, Lord! May I no longer be a slave to my past. Free me to live in peace with purpose and joy.
Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Don’t be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth. Isaiah 54:4
