A Prayer About God’s Timing
A prayer about God’s Timing
When God seems slow to act
Heavenly Father,
Oh, how I hate to wait! When I get stuck at a red light or in a slow line at the grocery store, I often become impatient and edgy. And when you don’t seem to be acting in my life, even when it’s clear that the thing I’ve prayed for is right and good, I get frustrated. Lord, it’s hard to accept that your timing is different from mine. It’s even harder to accept that your timing is best for me because I can’t see what’s up ahead. I want what seems best for me now! But I do trust you, and I want to act in a way that reflects that trust. I know that when I wait on you, I’m showing confidence in the fulfillment of your promises for my life, now and in the future. Teach me to wait quietly for you to act, without becoming restless or agitated. Grant me patience to wait for your timing.
I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. Psalm 27:13-14
