A Prayer About Success
A prayer about Success
When I wonder if it’s okay to seek success in this life
Father God,
I have ambitions to be successful in this world, but I wonder if that’s okay. Is it wrong to desire the favor of my supervisors, prestige, more responsibility, or security in my financial situation? Sometimes these things come not because I’m actively seeking them but just because I’m working hard, serving others, and living with integrity, which are rewarded in the workplace. You ask me to do my work as if I’m laboring for you. Help me to make pleasing you my motivation, then rewards will not be my aim; but if they come, I can be grateful for your blessing. When I receive material blessings, may I never forget you, the one who gave them. Guard me from sacrificing spirituality for the sake of gaining worldly wealth. And help me always to remember that your standards are different from the world’s. You measure success not by prestige, power, or possessions but by my motives, devotion, and commitment to you. Lord, in my work, my service, and my interactions with others, let my primary aim be to find success in your eyes.
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23
