A Prayer About Responsibility
A prayer about Responsibility
When I need to take ownership of my actions
Father God,
A lot of things influence me against taking responsibility for my own actions. It’s easy for me to excuse my sins by saying, “Oh, it’s just a bad habit.” Sometimes I believe one of Satan’s great lies: that I am a victim who has no power to resist my impulses. The world often teaches that my family, my environment, or my circumstances excuse me from responsibility. But your Word makes clear that what I do is a result of my choices and that I am responsible for those choices. Impress this on my heart, Lord, so that I may no longer make excuses for my actions but may face them head on. I am not powerless, for you are with me! You are more powerful than anything else that seeks to control me. May I tap into your power through prayer and be humble enough to ask for the support of fellow believers. When I do this, you will break the chains that hold me, and you will empower me to develop the strength to say no to temptations.
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. Romans 6:16
