A prayer about Perseverance

When I feel stretched to the breaking point

Lord God,

I don’t know how much more I can bear, yet my situation has no quick fix. I need perseverance to get me through it. I know that you can deliver me from painful circumstances, but I also know that you often call your followers to a courageous and enduring faithfulness in the middle of trials. Strengthen me, Lord, so that I will not give up. May I not only endure this situation but overcome it with obedience, hope, and joy. If I can keep going and maintain my trust in you, I will be stronger in faith when I come out on the other side of this struggle. Give me a better understanding of the benefits of obeying you. Then I will develop greater confidence that when problems strike again, I can get through them—with your help.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
