A Prayer About Hope

A prayer about Hope

When I need hope in the midst of trouble

O Lord Jesus,

I’m reassured to know that my troubles do not surprise you. After all, you said in John 16:33 that they are a fact of life in this fallen world. Instead of my focusing on problems, help me to look to you, the one who experienced some of the same troubles I do. If I am listening, you will show me how to have peace in spite of my situations. Even more than that, you will use these struggles to teach me endurance and to strengthen my character, making me more like you. I don’t want these difficulties to be wasted, Lord. The Bible assures me that you will either deliver me from my troubles or bring me through them—for your glory and my joy. And that gives me hope!

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:3-5
