A Prayer About Heaven
A prayer about Heaven
When I look forward to eternal life
Eternal God,
I often wonder what eternity with you will be like. In your Word, you have revealed just enough about heaven to give me something to anticipate with joy. I know I still have struggles to go through before I get there at the end of this life, but I am eager to see what you have planned. You have promised moments of joy; times of rest; the end of suffering; and, best of all, your presence. Thank you that because I have accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on my behalf, you have redeemed me and I can anticipate this glorious promise!
With eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. Romans 8:20-23
