A Prayer About Forgiveness

A prayer about Forgiveness

When I need to be reassured of God’s forgiveness

Merciful Father,

I have made a mess of things today. I confess my sin, and I need your forgiveness—again. It seems I struggle with this sin over and over, and I worry that I’m running out of chances with you. But when I remember the stories from the Old Testament, I’m reassured. The Israelites turned away from you to idols time and again, yet you kept calling them back. Every time, if they were truly repentant, you extended love and forgiveness, because you wanted a relationship with them. You wanted to be their God, and you set plans in place to bless them. They still suffered the natural consequences of their sin, and even though I can expect that in my life, too, I praise you for your patient and repeated forgiveness! You are my God.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
