A Prayer About Discouragement

A prayer about Discouragement

When I’m feeling discouraged and sorry for myself

Loving God,

I need some encouragement right now. I feel as though I am the only one who is going through troubles, and I’m feeling sorry for myself. Please give me the insight to realize that other people around me are struggling too—I’m not being singled out. Now and anytime I feel discouraged, may my response always be to come to you in prayer. I’m grateful that you invite me to talk to you, to be honest with you, and to share my burdens with you. I know I’m never alone. You are near and ready to help; in fact, your Word says that you will fight on my behalf, just as you did for the Israelites when they were fleeing from their Egyptian captors. All I have to do is stand still and watch you work. Help me to trust in you, never losing sight of your great love for me. You are the great encourager, and I rest in you.

Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” Exodus 14:13-14
