A Prayer About Conformity

A prayer about Conformity

When the world is trying to fit me into its mold

Dear Lord,

Too often I feel that society is trying to mold me into its way of looking, thinking, and behaving, just like a potter shapes a lump of clay into whatever design the potter has planned. But my culture rarely values what you do, so I need to resist its mold. You have called me to be countercultural. I have to break away from society’s rules—but not to go my own way. Instead, I need to conform to your way of thinking and acting, even when it goes against what’s popular. I confess that this can be difficult for me, but I want to do it because I want to act as your representative. I want my actions to be consistent with my faith so that others will see your life-changing power in me. You are the Potter, Lord. Reshape me so that I conform to your ways. May my example be a testimony to your grace and power.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2
