When I consider how challenges shape my life

Father God,

I’m facing a difficulty right now, and I want to have the right attitude. May I see this situation not as a negative but as a tool you can use to hone me. Just as it takes the rough surface of a file to sharpen the blade of a knife, so it takes rough times to sharpen me into the kind of person you can use effectively. May each trouble bring me greater wisdom, more maturity to withstand the trials that come my way, and deeper trust in you. I know that as I endure troubles I will gain more and more courage to face whatever comes. May I always be willing to follow your leading into uncharted waters so that I can accomplish something unique and purposeful for you. Impress on my heart that the greatest challenges can become the greatest opportunities.

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. 1 Peter 1:7
