A prayer about Brokenness

When I am grieving over my sin

Heavenly Father,

My circumstances are overwhelming. Sin has brought me low, and I realize that the only way out of my mess is through your help. I have hit bottom, and I understand as never before that I am utterly dependent on you. I am unrighteous; you are holy. I fail; you are perfect and all-sufficient. I have been trying to control my own life, but only you are really in control. Lord, please cast out my pride and make this mess be a turning point in my life. I release my life into your hands. Please forgive me and help me to repent fully. I ask you to draw close to me, heal my wounds, and restore me to you.

Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. Psalm 51:1-4
