A prayer for Restoration - Bringing back the joy

SPIRIT OF GOD,

I have a bad case of the spiritual blahs. I know our relationship is solid. I don’t doubt your love and know my salvation is secure. But I just don’t feel it. I don’t have joy. King David understood what caused him to be distant from you, especially after Nathan confronted him over his terrible sin. But I can’t pinpoint my problem. I just seem to have gradually slipped in this direction. I’m tired of being tired, or going through religious motions. I want a clean heart, a fresh start. I want to be joyful in my relationship with you. I remember how I felt when I gave my heart to you—so happy and close to you. Please reveal to me anything that has come between us—sins of commission and omission—and lead me to other believers who can help me in this process. “Oh, give me back my joy again”!

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me—now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Psalm 51:7-10
