A prayer about Tragedy - Praising God at all times

ALMIGHTY GOD,

I don’t know how Job lost everything, including his children, and still praised you. We believe pleasure is life’s norm and painful events are the exceptions. So when tragedy strikes, we say, “Why me?” We even blame you for causing our suffering. We struggle because we know you could have changed the circumstance or outcome if you wanted to. I have even felt afflicted over a minor inconvenience such as bad weather when I had outdoor plans or heavy traffic when I had to get some place quickly. Job lost all that was dear to him but “did not sin by blaming God.” He knew you, and his confidence in you could not be shaken even by the earthquake of life events. He also knew that he was nothing without you. God, give me the kind of unshakable faith that motivates me to praise you in all situations.

Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!” In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God. Job 1:20-22
