A Prayer About Time
A prayer about Time - Living to the fullest
ETERNAL GOD,
Like most people, I tend to make assumptions about the future, delaying certain decisions and actions because I have “plenty of time for that” or making elaborate plans with no regard for your will, as though I know what will happen. I see life passing by—quickly. And I look back with regret, recalling lost opportunities. I certainly have no idea how long I will live, so why do I act as though I do? My life is in your hands, Lord, and you have given me years, months, hours, and minutes to invest for your Kingdom. I want to choose the best places to spend my life and not waste any time in futile or superficial pursuits or heated arguments over insignificant, trivial issues. Please help me know the difference and give me the courage to make choices that honor you.
Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
