A prayer about Spiritual Guidance - Following the Holy Spirit’s lead

SPIRIT OF GOD,

I know you live in me because, by faith, I trusted Christ as my Savior; I gave my life to him. Jesus said you would make me aware of my sin, give me power to be his witness, produce fruit in me, reveal the truth, and lead me each day. Thank you for transforming me more each day into the image of Christ as I yield to you. I always seem to be at war with my sinful nature and its desires. When I try to defend and defeat sin on my own, I fail. Only you can give me the power to resist and change my desires. So as I begin another day, I submit to you. Strengthen me. Empower me. Lead me. May everything I do today—every thought, word, and deed—be according to your will. I want to do only what pleases you.

Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Galatians 5:16-17
