A Prayer About Nourishment

A prayer about Nourishment - Craving pure milk

HEAVENLY FATHER,

This morning I will eat breakfast. Later I’ll grab something for lunch. Then in the evening, I’ll sit down to dinner. I need food and water to live, and I try to make sure I eat the right kinds of food at the right time. But I need spiritual food, too, to grow and mature in my life with you. I’m afraid, however, that sometimes I skip meals or skimp, as though I’m on a spiritual diet. Or I can settle for junk food, grabbing a quick bite and moving on. When I do that, I feel sluggish and weak in my faith. I am hungry, Lord, for the food that only you can provide. I need nourishment to grow in faith and to have energy to serve you. But I know this can’t come by rushing through the meal, ordering at the drive-thru, or grabbing a snack. I must be intentional about setting aside time to feast on your Word in personal study and in community. Help me slow up, sit down, and dig in.

Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. 1 Peter 2:2-3
