A Prayer About My Occupation
A prayer about my Occupation - Working with purpose
ALMIGHTY GOD,
As I prepare to go to work this morning, I realize that I sometimes see my job as merely a means to an end. It gives a paycheck that I can spend on myself and others. It provides food and shelter and donations and spending money. But I know my work matters to you and that what I do for a living must be more than just a job; it should be a wise investment of my life. From what I can tell, a majority of workers don’t like what they do; they just work for the money. Thus they are virtually wasting at least a third of every day as they live for the quitting times, vacation days, and paychecks. I don’t want to live that way. I want to be a good steward of all the time you have allotted to me. So I ask for motivation, insight, and strength to honor you on the job by doing my best, working hard, being a positive and affirming employee, having integrity, and making a difference in the world.
The LORD God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. Genesis 2:15
Work hard and become a leader; be lazy and become a slave. Proverbs 12:24
