A prayer about Missionaries - Supporting God’s special messengers

HEAVENLY FATHER,

When your Son was about to leave the earth, he gave his disciples this charge, the great commission, exhorting them to spread the gospel throughout the world. This morning I think of the people who have given up everything to share the Word, some leaving all they hold familiar and dear to travel to distant lands. These missionaries often have to raise funds, begin a ministry from virtually nothing, learn a new language, and endure hardships and persecutions. But they love you and are committed to their calling. Be with them, Lord. I think of the ones our church supports financially, those to whom I contribute, and others. Today give them a strong sense of your presence and the confidence that they are just where you want them to be. Help them to be effective in building relationships and telling others about Jesus.

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
