A prayer about Human Understanding - Knowing my limitations

ALMIGHTY GOD,

I can’t turn off my brain. In fact, I awoke this morning with thoughts about you and your will. You have blessed me with a good mind, and I thank you. I also love that you want me to reason, deliberate, question, and seek answers. But my abilities are so finite, so limited. I cannot know all the answers, especially when I consider you and what you are doing in the world. Because I rely so much on my ability to analyze and evaluate, sometimes I act as though I can reason my way through life. What a foolish approach. At some point I just need to take that step of faith and admit that I know you are good and your ways are perfect. Although I can’t always figure out what’s going on, I trust you, Lord. You owe me no explanations for what you do. You are God—all-knowing and all-powerful—and I am not. So I depend on your divine goodness and guidance, trusting one step at a time.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
