A Prayer About God’s Work
A prayer about God’s Work - Finding the good in all things
HOLY SPIRIT,
Everything? Really? I memorized today’s verse years ago and have quoted it often when encountering difficulties—usually, I admit, in minor setbacks and inconveniences. But now I’m reeling, blindsided. And I can’t see anything positive in this tragedy, even though I love you and am confident that you have called me to yourself. I know that your thoughts and plans are far beyond my ability to perceive or comprehend; I am so limited in my humanity. I also believe with all my heart that you love me more than I could ever know and want nothing but the best for me. Yet I am struggling. I want to trust you, to have confidence that you are working and will work all things together—even this terrible event—for your plan and my good. I know this day will be difficult, with painful reminders at nearly every turn. So please fill me with a sense of your presence and help me to be a conduit of your love. Through my tears, help me believe and live out this promise.
We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28
