A Prayer About Creeds
A prayer about Creeds - Affirming what I believe
TRIUNE GOD,
Each time I recite the Apostles’ Creed and other historical affirmations of the faith, I stand with Christians through the centuries—men and women of every race and nation who believed in you and were willing to declare their faith. Many died as a result. I am humbled and grateful to be numbered with such believers. And I am profoundly encouraged by their commitment to these truths. “I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.” I know you are omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent—the sovereign ruler of all. “I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord.” I attest that Jesus is fully God and fully human, the God-man, and that he lived a perfect life, died on the cross for sins, and rose from the dead. He is my living Savior. “I believe in the Holy Spirit,” who eternally proceeds from the Son and who lives in me, changing, guiding, empowering, and producing fruit. Lord, these truths from your Word I affirm!
I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
