A Prayer About Victory

When I’m in the heat of the battle

ALMIGHTY GOD,

I am in a battle, that’s for sure. My day was packed with skirmishes, most unexpected. I understand from your Word that Satan and his minions are combating you and your people, so I should not be surprised by the attacks. Because these are spiritual forces, however, I shouldn’t rely on my cunning and might. As the nation of Israel was preparing for war on their journey to the land you promised, you pledged to be with them and to give them the victory. And you did—often against seemingly insurmountable odds. My enemy is unseen but just as real. But having you with me and fighting for me assures his defeat. What a mighty Savior I serve! You have enlisted and equipped me. As your soldier, I submit to your leadership. As a mere soldier, I rely on your wisdom and strength. Tell me where to go and what to say and do, and I will obey. I can move forward with confidence, even into enemy territory, certain that together we will be victorious. Thank you, Lord.

Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the LORD your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory! Deuteronomy 20:3-4
