A Prayer About The Narrow Way

When I see so many going down the wrong road

HEAVENLY FATHER,

Jesus’ statement about being the only way to you doesn’t sit well with most people these days. Conventional wisdom says everyone is supposed to be open-minded and inclusive. We are told that many roads lead to God. So when someone dies, unless the person was notoriously evil, pundits, even religious leaders, say that he or she is in heaven. What a terrible deception . . . and so sad because most people believe these lies. Truth is always narrow, and being sincerely wrong is still wrong. I know many who are headed down the broad “highway to hell.” That way is appealing with many allurements and virtually no restrictions, but it leads to destruction. My heart breaks for these people, Lord. Some days I feel as though I should grab a bullhorn and announce the truth or wear a placard and walk the streets, but I know neither would be very effective. Your way is narrow, but it is right—and it leads to life. Please give me opportunities and the words to point people lovingly to you.

You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13-14
