A Prayer About Trust In God

When I consider the level of my faith

HEAVENLY FATHER,

My money bears the inscription “In God We Trust,” but as a nation we mostly trust our army, stock market, government, and businesses. So the phrase has lost much of its original meaning. I also claim to trust in you, but I wonder if I really do or if the term has become simply a cliché. Is my trust in you such that if, like Job, I lost everything I could still say, “God might kill me, but I have no other hope”? I know you are my only hope in this life and the next, but I’m not sure I act that way. I tend to lean greatly on people who love me—family and friends. So I wonder whether I could survive with only you with me. And I think I look to my job and finances for security. How would I respond if I suddenly became destitute? Trusting in you fully means believing that you love me and want only the best for me. I do believe that, Father. I do.
