A Prayer About Defeat

When I suffer a setback

AWESOME GOD,

You never promised that life would be smooth sailing, and today I hit some rough seas. I was moving along in the right direction with my goal in sight when, wham! I was stopped in my tracks. The setback left me feeling down, totally defeated. Perhaps my expectations, my goals, were too high, ot I may have been too idealistic, assuming the best-case scenario. In any event, things didn’t turn out that way, and I fell short. I crashed, I lost—and now I have to start over. But you are so much bigger than my situation, my defeat; you are sovereign, in control of everything. I need to remember that always, especially in times like these. You will have the ultimate victory. Help me to keep my head up and start fresh tomorrow morning, focused on you and your loving plan. Please give me the picture of where I should start, what my first steps should be. I want to believe, to feel in my soul, that this will work out. I want to trust you fully.
