A Prayer About Thanksgiving
A prayer about Thanksgiving
When I consider and count all my blessings
FATHER,
Thinking back over the day, I feel overwhelmed by your goodness. You have given so much, for which I am profoundly thankful. Often I take your blessings for granted, either not recognizing them or somehow expecting your gifts as though I deserve them. Please forgive me. Now as I remember your blessings, I thank you for life itself, for the ability to breathe, and for my senses, to experience your world. Thank you for your provision and care, protection, healing, and sustenance. I am safeguarded by police officers, firefighters, and more. I have financial resources, food, a place to live, and doctors and hospitals nearby. Thank you for loved ones and other relationships—friends, neighbors, coworkers—with whom I interact and from whom I learn. I thank you for my brothers and sisters in Christ and for my church, especially those who preach and teach and serve. And, most of all, thank you for sending Jesus to die for me, for forgiving me, and for giving me eternal life by grace through faith. I love you, Lord.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Psalm 23:5
