A Prayer About Renewal
A prayer about Renewal
When I am sliding spiritually
DIVINE COMFORTER,
I have been in a spiritual rut, going through the motions but without any passion. No great commandment breaking has brought me to this place, not even a series of small infractions—just the daily and regular routines of life. Slowly, over the weeks and months, I slid to where I am today. The process was so gradual that I didn’t notice . . . until lately. I’ve heard someone say, “If you’re not as close to God as you were, guess who moved,” with the obvious answer—“You!” That certainly has been true for me. Forgive me, Lord, for my soul neglect. I want to be near you, sensitive to your leading, aware of your presence, feeling your power, and seeing you work in and through me. I am a sinner, so my natural tendency is to pull away. But at conversion, you changed me, giving me a new nature. So I humbly submit to you, Holy Spirit. Do your restoration work in me. Stop my wayward movement, revive my spirit, and pull me close. Renew me.
Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:23-24
