A Prayer About Strength

A prayer about Strength

When I understand God’s work for me and in me

ALMIGHTY GOD,

After you parted the Red Sea and brought your people through the waters safely, rescuing them from Pharaoh’s army, the people praised you for your mighty work. They knew without a doubt that you alone had given them the victory. I have also seen miracles, not as dramatic as the one recorded in Exodus, but obvious displays of your strength. And I praise you for your divine intervention. Unfortunately, I tend to limit the exercise of your power to big events. In reality, daily I am the beneficiary of countless small, nearly invisible acts. I can do nothing without you. You provide opportunities, allow me to function physically, open and close doors, impart insight and ideas, craft my speech, and give me choices and the ability to choose wisely. Most important, you strengthen, encourage, and motivate me to resist temptation and do your will. Because of and through you alone, I can worship freely, serve selflessly, relate lovingly, and tell others of your glorious works. I submit to you, Lord. Open my eyes to see you more clearly.

The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him—my father’s God, and I will exalt him! Exodus 15:2
