A Prayer About Spiritual Food
A prayer about Spiritual Food
When I need nourishment
HEAVENLY FATHER,
I’m famished, spiritually. I need to be fed. As a new believer, I eagerly devoured the Word; I couldn’t seem to get enough. Then I went through a period of feast or famine, times of intense interaction with you and your people and then long stretches of almost nothing. Just as you provided bread and meat for the people of Israel as they traveled to the Promised Land, you also give me opportunities to consume spiritual food daily. I shouldn’t think I can store up provision for the next week, month, or year. Instead I need to partake now, when it is provided. Spiritual nourishment comes from reading and studying your Word, sitting under solid Bible teaching and preaching, engaging in corporate worship, spending time alone with you in prayer, and as Jesus said, doing your will. I dare not neglect any of these “meals.” Please give me the discipline to consistently read the Scriptures, pray, and regularly attend church services. Lead me to individuals and a small group for community and care. And show me how I can serve.
Jesus replied, “I have a kind of food you know nothing about.” “Did someone bring him food while we were gone?” the disciples asked each other. Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.” John 4:32-34
