A Prayer About Selfless Service

When I offer my help

LORD,

Occasionally I have given up a free evening or weekend to help with a service opportunity and have enjoyed the experience. But I wonder if I serve out of pride or guilt. Serving didn’t cost much, and I wonder if I would have volunteered if it had. Change my heart, God. Help me love people and give selflessly, with no prospects of gaining anything in return.

All of you, serve each other in humility, for “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
