A Prayer About Seizing The Day

When I need to make the most of the time I have left

DEAR LORD,

Life is so short. That reality hits me with every passing year, especially when I approach a birthday number that ends with a zero. I want my remaining years to count for you, God. People talk about having a “bucket list,” achievements and adventures they want to accomplish and experience before they die. I need a spiritual bucket list, Lord. You said, “The night is coming,” and we don’t know how much time is left—for anyone. I want to seize the day to make an impact for you. This means sharing with a dear friend the story of my spiritual journey. I have been putting that off. It means going on the short-term mission trip that I’ve been considering. I also want to give a significant financial contribution to a ministry that is close to my heart; this will involve saving and sacrifice. And I need to step up to a leadership role in church. I know that I can do this only with your blessing and power, and I want to do all for your glory.

We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. John 9:4
