A Prayer About Satan

When I feel under attack

HEAVENLY FATHER,

I know I can become complacent in my faith, even though you have warned me about the enemy. Despite popular representations, he is real and dangerous, a devouring “lion” often disguised as something good. You have called Satan a liar and the Accuser, and he uses both tactics in bombarding me, lying about you and reminding me of my failures and sins. I have felt under heavy attack, with the devil’s accusations swirling about in my mind and obstacles being placed in my way. So I ask you to bind Satan, Father. Close my ears to his lies and open them to your truth. You have said I should resist the devil, and I do. Right now, through your power, I reject his words and influence. I know, Lord, that this doesn’t end the struggle because the enemy is always near, using doubts, temptations, and excuses to keep me from following you closely. So I ask for awareness of his wiles and for strength to counteract them. You are all powerful, Lord. The devil is no match.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
