A Prayer About Safety

A prayer about Safety

When I am concerned about people I love

DEAR GOD,

Recently I have been thinking about safety, with all the frustration, crime, and violence I see in the world. The fabric of society seems to be torn, the moral foundations crumbling. I am worried not so much about myself but about the people I love, especially the little ones. They are so defenseless against evil, Lord. In addition, adults who should be their protection are pulling back, leaving the weak exposed. Please watch over the children, God. Keep them safe; shield them from harm. Guide our political leaders; give them wisdom to know what they can do to stem violence and the courage to do it. With all the debate about guns, mental illness, laws, and related topics, help us understand that this is first of all a moral issue and that hearts must be changed. To that end, give me the opportunities, words, strength, and courage to speak up for the truths in your Word and to share the message of salvation through Christ. Though your Spirit, please empower me to be a reconciler and peacemaker for you.

This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Psalm 91:2-4
