A Prayer About Sacrifice

When my commitment costs me

LORD,

I hear the word sacrifice used in many contexts. Parents sacrifice for their children, workers for their companies, soldiers for their countries. These men and women forfeit freedom and privilege for a cause greater than themselves. No greater cause exists than to proclaim your name throughout the earth, and no cost is too great. Give me courage, Lord, to be willing to sacrifice everything for you.

[Paul said,] “For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him.” Philippians 3:8-9
