A Prayer About Road Rage

A prayer about Road Rage

When I drive out of control

DEAR JESUS,

I have to admit—I was out of control this afternoon. Someone cut me off in traffic, forcing me to slam on my brakes and almost causing an accident. I was so angry that I sped up and got as close as I could to that car and was looking for a way to return the favor before I had to turn off. Traffic seems to bring out the worst in me, maybe because I’m always in a hurry or perhaps because I’m competitive and don’t like to have drivers get ahead of me. Whatever the reason, I need to stay calm before I hurt myself and others. To make matters worse, I had a Christian sticker on my car; I can imagine the bad impression I was making for you, Lord. I pray for the discipline to start my travels earlier so I won’t have to rush, and then perhaps even consider driving in the slow lane to avoid temptation. I say I want to live for you—what better place to start!

Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm. Psalm 37:8
