A Prayer About Reconciliation

A prayer about Reconciliation

When I have a broken relationship

GRACIOUS LORD,

When we were your enemies and far from you—completely lost in sin, breaking your laws, and rejecting your love—you made the move to reconcile us to yourself. The Incarnation was all for us: God becoming a flesh-and-blood human being, living a perfect life, dying on the cross in our place, becoming the ultimate and final sacrifice for sin, and rising from the grave. Now, by grace and through faith, I have peace with you. I am forgiven, saved, reconciled, brought close. Because of all you have done for me, how can I possibly allow perceived insults, small irritations, and other issues to separate me from my brothers and sisters in Christ? But too often that is what happens, I’m afraid. I know that is wrong, Lord, and I ask for your forgiveness. I want nothing to come between us. I should be quick to forgive, make the first move, and be reconciled. Show me what I should do to help heal those hurts and mend those broken relationships. I want to be like you.

God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19
