A Prayer About Opportunities

When I choose to seize the moments that God provides

DEAR LORD,

This day, as every day, was a gift. Looking back on the past fourteen hours, I see all your generous gifts during that time: food, transportation, work, laughter, friends, insight, and the ability to perceive and experience all that life offers. But almost hidden among those more obvious gifts were the opportunities you provided. At those times you gave me possibilities and choices. Thank you for that amazing gift. You gave me the chance to act in love and meet someone’s need, a time to overlook a slight, and many moments for prayer. I know that in the future you will also give me the opportunity to respond to a hurt with grace, to ignore an insulting remark, to serve, to praise, to teach, to resist temptation, to resolve a conflict, and to share the Good News of salvation. Thank you for allowing me to choose to seize these moments and do what is right and what honors you. Please give me sensitivity and awareness so I don’t miss them. I can hardly wait to see tomorrow’s opportunities.

Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Ephesians 5:15-16
