A Prayer About Gossip

When I pass on a rumor

GRACIOUS GOD,

After taking part in a discussion recently, I wondered why I had said anything at all and especially why I had passed on what I had heard about the person in question. That’s gossip, plain and simple, and it is sin. I probably wanted to be accepted by the group or to feel as though I had inside information. Please forgive me, Lord. And in the future, help me to think before I speak and to refuse to gossip and spread rumors.

Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people. Leviticus 19:16
