A Prayer About God’s Promises
A prayer about God’s Promises
When I am reassured by the Word
GOD,
As I peruse and study your Word, I am almost overwhelmed with joy as I read your promises to your people. Every sentence of these affirmative statements exudes your love and care. Peter calls these “great and precious promises.” You are perfect, true, and good and can do anything you say you will because of your knowledge and power. Nothing can ever compare with the gifts you give to those you love. You have promised to be our Father, adopting us as your children, and to send the Holy Spirit to live in us. You have promised to always be with us, everywhere and in every circumstance. You have promised peace, power, healing, security, comfort, deliverance, hope, encouragement, joy, guidance, rest, strength, endurance, confidence, and so much more. And the greatest gift and promise of all: eternal life through Christ. I know beyond any doubt that eventually you will take me home, and I will live forever with you. Hallelujah!
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:3-4
