A Prayer About Friends
A prayer about Friends
When I think about my dearest relationships
HEAVENLY FATHER,
Extroverts seem to thrive on relationships and have many friends. Introverts seem to need breaks between interpersonal interactions. I’m not sure where I fit because I have both tendencies. At times I’d rather get away from everyone and just be alone. But I also need close relationships, people outside of family who care about me, whom I can hang with and confide in. I am blessed with friends who know me and want to be with me. And right now, I pray for them by name. These people listen to me and pray for me. Sometimes they push back on my ideas and choices, helping me stay on course. Your Word gives many examples of friends, both good (David and Jonathan) and not so good (Job’s friends). And you’ve said that a real friend “sticks closer than a brother.” Thank you for the real friends in my life; they stay with me in all circumstances, despite my mistakes and foibles, and they speak truth to me. Please help me be that kind of friend to them.
There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24
