A prayer about FACING “GIANTS”

A prayer about Facing “Giants”

When I encounter intimidating opposition

MY ALL-POWERFUL LORD,

At first no one took David seriously when he offered to confront Goliath. David showed no fear because of his total trust in you. Although just a boy, the youngest in the family, a shepherd, and with no battlefield experience, he ran to meet the challenge. David remembered your work in his life in the past and was confident that you were with him in the present. The negative odds were tremendous. On paper, no way could David win the battle. But he did. I need that kind of faith and courage, Lord. My “giants” are not heavily armed and armored, nine-foot warriors, but they loom large—strong, intimidating, and dangerous nonetheless: health concerns, financial challenges, career barriers and setbacks, looming decisions, interpersonal issues, and more. Every day I seem to encounter a new giant facing me across the valley. I need the courage and resourcefulness of David. Most important, I need you to stand with me and go before me, my strength and my salvation. Help me run to the battle—the victory belongs to you.

“The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the LORD be with you!” 1 Samuel 17:37
