A Prayer About Courage

When I feel weak and afraid

MY SAVIOR, MY GOD,

I need you, Lord. I know that you are always with me and working in me, but right now I feel my need for you more than ever. I can’t remember a time when I’ve been this nervous and fearful. I face a challenge like none before, and I’m scared to death of the possible outcome and failure. You know every side of the situation and what I am up against . . . and my fear about the process and potential result. Bolster my spirit and give me clarity of mind and speech. Strengthen my weak legs, I pray, and help me walk forward in faith. My situation isn’t close to being as difficult and dire as those faced by Moses, Joshua, and your people approaching Canaan, their Promised Land filled with formidable foes. Yet with your mighty help they succeeded, defeating strong Jericho and a host of enemies. I know you stand with me as well and won’t fail me, and I want to trust you. Please give me courage.

Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6
