A Prayer About Correction
A prayer about Correction
When I need to be set straight
DEAR LORD,
I love your Word. Thank you for the ancient Scriptures—History, Prophecy, Poetry, Gospels, and Epistles—inspired by the Holy Spirit, faithfully recorded by chosen writers, and handed down from generation to generation. You gave the Bible to reveal your person and plan . . . and to change lives. One of the most personal outcomes from reading and studying your Word happens when you point out to me where I am going wrong and push me back to the right path. As I journey through life, I am easily distracted and can venture away from the way I should go, so I need your firm guidance. And that comes when I’m reading a passage, and the Spirit begins to convict me of my sin and show me what I need to do. At times your correction is difficult and painful, and I resist. But I know your way is best. I yield, Lord, to you and your perfect will. I promise to read and study the Bible, listen to your messages, and take steps to correct my ways.
I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11
