A Prayer About Communication
A prayer about Communication
When I share thoughts, feelings, and ideas with others
HEAVENLY FATHER,
Communication is part and parcel of my life. I want to know what’s going on and to share my thoughts, opinions, and ideas. So I talk a lot and spend much of my days in conversation with a wide variety of people in all sorts of situations—on the phone, in the neighborhood, at church, over coffee. I also communicate via e-mails and texts. Often, reflecting on what I have said or written, I question my motives for divulging certain information and my use of words. Sometimes I have been privileged with confidential information, and I feel tempted to break confidences. At other times, I want to pass on the latest rumor or piece of gossip. I also find myself making snide comments about another person—hateful words that sting and hurt. Help me think before I speak or write, dear Father. I want all my words to be pleasing to you. And keep me from giving the wrong nonverbal messages through my body language. I want all I do and say to honor you.
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. Colossians 4:6
