A Prayer About Affirmation

A prayer about Affirmation

When I recognize my need to be noticed

O LORD,

On some days I feel just like a little kid looking for compliments and approval, wanting someone to notice my work or say how good I am. And not receiving any recognition or positive feedback can cause me to feel unloved, overlooked, and unappreciated—a real pity party. This often happens when I realize how tiny I am in this world, just one out of billions of people. Yet I know that you love me and that you shower me with your gifts and affirming words. As a flawed and sinful person, I deserve no praise or gifts, just condemnation. But by your grace you have chosen, forgiven, saved, and adopted me. When I focus on my failures and inadequacies, I feel small and insignificant. But when I think of your love for me, I feel like a child of the King. So please help me remember how much you care for me. And help me pass on your love to others, complimenting, noticing, encouraging—affirming them as your unique creations, made in your image, just as I am.

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1
