A Prayer About Abilities
A prayer about Abilities
When I recognize how God has enabled me to do his work
DEAR LORD,
I know I have certain talents, strengths, and gifts. I was born with many of them; others have been developed through the years. Some of these abilities are obvious and others hidden, by choice or by their nature. Today I was able to use a mix of those abilities to accomplish an important task and to help others. At times, I think I have nothing to offer, especially when comparing myself to those who seem much more gifted—at least it seems that way. I may even begin to feel sorry for myself and wish that I could be like someone else. So I can easily get caught up in myself and forget that you created me the way I am, that you have equipped me with “gifts for doing certain things well” and empowered me to make a difference in the world. Forgive me for thinking less of your creation and for wishing I were different. Thank you for making me uniquely who I am. And help me to use all that I am to glorify you.
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. Romans 12:6-7
