A Reflection On Persecution

When I need to rejoice in suffering

Jesus’ words—telling us that we’re blessed when others hate us because of our faith—prepare us for any trial by pointing us to eternal realities. Is God’s Kingdom where we’ve placed our hopes? If so, we will not only tolerate our rejection by this world, but we’ll see it as happy confirmation that we are in union with Jesus.

What blessings await you when people hate you . . . because you follow the Son of Man. When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.
