A Reflection On Motives

When I want to serve God with a pure heart

Do you ever wonder about your real motives for serving God? When you do something for God, are you doing it for public affirmation? Because you want to bargain with Him? From insecurity or fear? Take away the audience and see. Do you relate to Him well in private? Get behind closed doors and examine what’s left in your relationship with Him. It can be a humbling experience, but it’s a necessary one. And according to Jesus, it never goes unrewarded.

Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
